PAG HT
Etchant for prior austenite grainboundaries on unalloyed and/or high tempered Steels.
If your material is unalloyed or has been tempered at high temperatures (> 450 °C), our PAG HT is the best choice. "HT" stands for high tempered.
We have successfully etched the following materials:
- 23MnB3 | 1.5507 +Q
- 23MnB3 | 1.5507 +QT 8.8
- 23MnB3 | 1.5507 +QT 10.9
- 23MnB3 | 1.5507 +QT 11.9
- 32CrB4 | 1.7076 +QT 12.9
- 34CrMo4 | 1.7720 +QT 12.9
- 35B2 | 1.5511 +QT 9.8
- C45E | 1.1191 +QW +T
- C60E | 1.1221 +QW +T
- C85S | 1.1269 +QW +T
- C100S | 1.1274 +QW +T
Example images for each material listed can be found in our microstructure database.
Parameters:
- 3 min immersion etching
- Wipe off oxide skin on non-rotating, water-wet OPS polishing cloth or rub with ammonia and cotton wool pad
- Repeat etching if necessary
- Finished
The etchant is based on picric acid and contains copper II chloride. The remaining components are not hazardous.
We have linked further example etchings and fibre gradients for you on our homepage in our product information.
