Diamond Spray

Diamond Spray – Practical Dosing

Diamond spray is the convenient alternative to suspension when fine, uniform distribution and easy dosing are required. We offer two bases: spray dispenser variant and alcohol-based for water-sensitive or corrosion-critical materials. Available in mono- or polycrystalline forms, in proven grit sizes and concentrations for reproducible results.

Key Features

  • Two bases:
    • Spray dispenser variant: for automated dosing systems, optimized viscosity
    • Alcohol-based: ideal for zinc coatings, magnesium alloys, and other water-sensitive materials
  • Precise dosing: fine spray distribution, consistent grit and concentration distribution
  • Process reliability: stable removal rates from pre-polish to fine polish
  • Flexible: mono- or polycrystalline depending on material and target surface
  • Compatible: with common polishing cloths, lubricants, and polishing machines
  • Economical: efficient application

Product Variants

  • Spray dispenser variant
    • Developed for spray dispensers and automated dosing systems
    • Uniform aerosol distribution and reproducible dosing
    • Suitable for series processes and laboratory automation
  • Alcohol-based
    • For water-sensitive and corrosion-critical materials (e.g., zinc coatings, magnesium)
    • Fast drying, low residues, reduced risk of corrosion
    • Higher effective removal rate due to thinner lubricant film

Crystal Type

  • Monocrystalline: controlled scratch pattern, gentle on material – good for steels and non-ferrous metals
  • Polycrystalline: self-sharpening, high removal rate – good for ceramics, hard metal, glass

Grit Sizes and Applications

  • Coarse to pre-polish: 15–9 μm
  • Standard polish: 6–3 μm
  • Fine polish: 1–0.25 μm
  • Final finish: 0.04 μm with OPS/alumina suspension as a subsequent medium
Note: Please list available grit sizes and intermediate sizes according to your product list.

Concentrations and Containers

  • Typical concentrations: e.g., 25–100 cts/L (standard: 50 cts/L)
  • Containers: pump spray bottle
Note: Present exact concentrations/containers according to your diamond suspension logic.

Application Recommendation

  1. Pre-polish (15–9 μm) – for water-sensitive materials: alcohol-based
  2. Polishing stages (6–3 μm) – spray dispenser variant for automated processes
  3. Fine polish (1–0.25 μm) – fine, uniform spray dosing
  4. Final finish (0.04 μm) – chemical-mechanical with OPS/alumina suspension
Dosing note: For spray dispensers follow the manufacturer’s instructions; apply manually in a thin, even layer.

Material suitability (selection)

  • Steels (low- to high-alloy), non-ferrous metals: mono- or polycrystalline
  • Zinc coatings, magnesium alloys, Zn die-cast: alcohol-based recommended
  • Hard metal, ceramics, glass: polycrystalline for high removal rate

Comparison to suspension format

  • Spray: convenient distribution, highly automatable (spray dispensers)
  • Suspension: maximum flexibility for manual application
Important: Surface quality primarily depends on grit size, crystal type, cloth, and parameters, not on the application format.

FAQ

  • When to use the spray dispenser variant vs. alcohol-based?
    • Spray dispenser variant: automated systems, reproducible cycle times
    • Alcohol-based: water-sensitive materials, fast drying
  • Mono vs. poly?
    • Mono: controlled scratch pattern, more sensitive materials
    • Poly: high removal rate, self-sharpening
  • Is the spray quality the same as with suspension?
    • Yes, with identical grit size/concentration. Differences lie in application/handling.
